Booking Accommodation – The Millennial Way
Arranging hotel accommodations used to be such a hassle, but with new technology, it’s so simple to find the hotel of your choice and select your dates for booking. Gone are the days where we had to call hotels and ask for an availability (at least that’s what my parents used to do). Now, hotels use online room booking systems where guests can check room availability and book a room (or two!) for themselves. It is so simple! Sites like Agoda, Booking.com, and AirBnB allow you to book right away and hassle free. Some of the mentioned sites even give you the opportunity to select the price range you are looking for! How easy is that? Let’s take a look at some of the aforementioned sites to see which one is right for you:
1. Agoda
What is it:
According to their website, Agoda is a fast growing online booking platform. What started as a small startup in Singapore grew into a global network. Agoda now boasts a network of 2 million properties in over 200 countries worldwide. It offers “. . . luxury to budget hotels, apartments, homes, and villas . . .” to fit all budgets and travel needs.
How can I book with it:
To book on Agoda, you can do one of two things, either go directly to their website or download their app. Either way you get the same features the only difference is that there may be some deals available on the app that are not available online. By signing up to their newsletter, Agoda will keep you updated on their promotions and deals.
2. Booking.com
What is it:
Booking.com is basically like a giant search engine for finding the best lodging reservations. With over 28 million listings in 148,000 destinations in 228 countries and territories worldwide there’s always something to be found to meet your budget needs.
How can I book with it:
Similar to Agoda, Booking.com has their website and app available for use. By using either their website or app, you can select a specific destination and the number of people looking to book. You can even specify how many people are going.
3. AirBnB
What is It:
AirBnb is an online
marketplace that offers lodging and tourism experiences. For the most part, it
offers residential homes for lodging. Airbnb doesn’t own any of the properties
but instead collects a fee once the lodging on its site is booked through them.
How can I book with it:
Download the app or log onto their website to get started. Since most of the lodging available is a homestay, you get many different looks and price ranges. If you want absolute privacy, be sure to check if your booking is for a room in a house or the entire house itself!
